Mistakes You Are Doing - How to blog / How Do You Blog

Nearly 90% of all bloggers stop blogging after a while because they either think that no one is reading their blog or that there are no comments in their blog. So what do all these bloggers have in common? ( that includes me too until a couple of friends pulled me out and made me continue ) I am going to share a few of them that i was making.

Content

1) Content : Most bloggers want more visitors with no apparent work done at all. The first thing is to get more content onto the website, but keep in mind content quality must be kept! No content is always better than no content. Bad content is the the best way to drive away any visitors right through the door! So go write more and better content to entice people to your blog! Another issue is the blog comments and the best way to get them is to go and post valid comment on other blogger websites! Most bloggers respect your comments and will reciprocate in the same manner!

2) Tweaking too many thing : Ok I understand that you want to get the best layout and design for your blog but the readers would rather like a stable website which doesn't radically change with every visit! People feel comfortable when they are in a familiar environment so you have to create a feeling of familiarity. So finish all your design and plugin research before you go live on the web! That is the least you can do to your readers if you want them to take their time, read and comment on you blog. Another thing is that changing the layout and researching on plugins takes a lot of time, time which can be better spent writing more content for your blog!

3) Obsessing Over Stats : When I first started out i remember spending more than half my time staring at various analytic websites hoping that someone will drop off the site and believe me that was the major appointment when it never went up. Luckily now i have a steady traffic! Some of the things I did to get a bit more traffic are posted at this blog Traffic To A Website : How To Increase Web Traffic. The number of visitors coming to your blog will definitely go up just hang tight and keep generating more content!

4) Ads : You want to make money and have some payoff for all the time you spent writing your blog but understand that the readers don't really care about that. They come to your site so that they can read good content not so that you can make money. Most of them get offended if you portray yourself as such a blogger and you will loose people right away! The best way is to keep your ads to the minimum! Anyway better ads placement works a million times better than just having more ads! So remove all those banners and obtrusive ads and keep a few selected ones that don't get in the way of your readers.

5) Domain : This is a mistake I am also doing. Having a domain name gives your words branding and authority and gives you more credibility. It shows that you are serious about what you write and that you are committed to it! I myself am currently in the process of hunting down a good hosting provider and getting my own domain name! Hope I find one soon!
