Why You Should Not Blog!

Please Do Not Blog!
I for one am sick and tired of the hundreds of blogs that start out great and suddenly shut down because they cant spend the time anymore! Even worse are blogs that post crappy/ fake information which is just copied from some corner of the web! Seriously i don't know what people are thinking when they copy what appears on the first 5 Google search of a keyword and expect to be taken seriously and traffic to explode. So here are reasons why you should not get into blogging.

Crappy Hours

**Note : Remember to for continuous updates!**
It takes a couple of hours to research for a post and then writing it takes even more time! If that were not enough getting your blog to look just how you want it is one pain in the arse and deciding what layout you should have is another behemoth task because you will always find something that is better than what you have! Ok saying you have the layout, the design and content done you will always find some new fancy new widget that you feel is a must have for your blog and to add it to your blog you have to tweak the site even more! After all this comes all the efforts to make you blog popular, not to forget all the time spent in going through comments of users and seeing which of those are spams! So you get the picture, blogging is a LOT OF WORK, and not to mention TIME CONSUMING!

Almost Zero Money

If you are going to start blogging to make a few bucks let me tell you you will make a lot more money doing even odd jobs. Any serious money will take time to come in, and i am not talking in months here, at least a couple of years! It takes time to build credibility and trust from readers. At the start, unless you get lucky you might mostly be able to cover your hosting fees after a Couple of months and even that is doubtful and depends on the content and niche that you post!

Answering to Readers

The main reason to start a blog is to write your view on a topic and to share! The readers opinion on what you write is vital! So if you don't like people having a different opinion from you and fly off the handle every time this happens then Blogging is not for you!

Truthful To Your Followers

If people follow you they expect you to be truthful to them! Do not lie! Do not try to cheat them! If you want to post an advertisement then make it clear that the content is sponsored! As far as i know many readers will be appreciative of your truthfulness and even support your ad campaign! Concealing it just makes them unsubscribe from you!

Community

To me blogging is almost equal to building a community and influencing people in the ways they think and a way to letting your views known to the whole world! So building a community for example a twitter account, dedicated Facebook page, a google pluse page are all a given part of the blogging process! And if you don't know yet getting followers and likes on your facebook page is not easy! Am currently trying to get these and believe me it is pretty difficult and not to mention pretty time consuming also!

Writing skills

In a blog people read what you write, so unless you can write something readable you wont have much luck! To have a decent blog you should have at least a decent ability to write in whatever language you want to blog in without making stupid grammatical and spelling mistakes, else what you write will be lost in all those mistakes!

So if any of these topics apply to you, then you are better of not starting a blog cause you are likely to quit very soon!

If after reading all of this you still feel confident and want to start a blog and want some help drop me a mail at foxnaren@gmail.com, a message at twitter @randomrational or leave a comment here and i will surely get back to you! I Promise!

  1. Very true!  I've been blogging for about a year and a half now and it's certainly not something I'd recommend for those without patience and time!

  2. I Really like your straight forward approach and comments on blogging. I so get what you're saying. It takes time, energy and commitment before anything happens. It takes a while for readers to sort through what is out there to find your blog in the first place. Staying power, good writing and offering some value to the reader is paramount.

  4. I was fearful of starting a blog, and as I have progressed I know I still need to refine and work it out, but I love the writing, and all the random things that happen that I can share. I tell the short people at worst they will have something to remember me by.
